Odeo Takes First Place in Web 2.0 Awards for Podcasting

While Sonic Mountain was waiting for the ink to dry on their recent acquisition of Odeo, SEOmoz.com announced that Odeo was the winner of the 2007 Web 2.0 Awards for Best Podcasting site.

Over the next few months Sonic Mountain intends to preserve the integrity of Odeo while making significant upgrades. The Odeo community will share improved content organization, search, discovery and podcast hosting of both audio and video.

Neat! Looking forward to video on Odeo.

Cork'd Acquired

Cork'd Finds a New Home with Wine Library TV. Congrats to Dan and Dan! Cork'd is such a pretty and well done site it just needs some care and attention—the Dans knew that and found the right guy for the job. Nice.

Skip Annoying Automated Phone Trees

I'm not sure exactly how it works but you can use Bringo.com to skip those annoying phone trees at big companies like airlines and credit card companies and get right to a real person. Call Bringo, choose the company you are trying to contact, and hang up the phone. Bringo goes through the annoying stuff and rings your phone when you are on hold for a real representative.

To Do

Get some documents online explaining the Twitter+Microformats stuff. Turns out folks want to know more about that. Also, explain to Australian users why we implemented changes to our international sms routing and why it is good for them and us. I'll put some coherent sentences together on those issues tomorrow. Also? Odeo will live on and be way better than we ever hoped with the new owners. I'm psyched about that.

Get with The Times

Jack and I had our photo published in the Sunday edition of The New York Times a couple weeks ago for an article about Twitter. Got some calls and emails from friends in New York as a result. Fancy, huh!
