Road to Nowhere

San Jose Mercury News: "A speeding tanker truck with 6,800 gallons of gasoline slammed into a guard rail near the Bay Bridge early today, sparking an explosion and intense fire that collapsed the ramp from eastbound Interstate 80 to eastbound Interstate 580, the California Highway Patrol said."

Twitter on c|net Live

I was a guest on c|net live last week. It was fun because Veronica showed me around the offices first and I won the office Diet Coke lottery. Also, Tom and Brian reminded me of the gadget equivalent of the Car Talk guys. How do they know all that stuff?

Note to self: taking ball cap off right before going on camera may lead to bird-man like hairdo. Nobody said anything so I guess they didn't notice. Caw! Veronica used to live right near me in Brookline back in the day. Who woulda thunk? Coolidge Corner, represent.

OMG LOL KOTTKE

It's like those funny cat photos but it's Jason Kottke instead. Maybe catster.com should use these photos as error pages. Lolz!

Heatlth

I'm pretty sure this is the last time I went to the gym. Not great, gotta get back on track. The good news is that I have crossed into that realm where I waste away to nothing if I don't work out. Nothing is good, right? Minimalist style.

Nice!

Fine, bitches. I'm twittering now. Happy? Well, yeah!

Twitter, Inc., Obviously

Not much changing except a bunch of paperwork and a fancy new title for Jack but we just announced Twitter, Inc. "We're happy to announce that Twitter is graduating from the home of Obvious and becoming its own company—appropriately named, Twitter, Inc." Ev called Jack a genius but the word we use more often in the office is "mastermind." (Genius is already taken!)

Tonight!

Tonight is the premiere of Drive. You gotta watch it! It's on Fox tonight at 8/7c. Greg directed it and he's going to do the never-before-been-done: live director's commentary via text message during the premiere. Text FOLLOW FOXDRIVE to 40404 or visit twitter.com/foxdrive and click "add."

I'm in Los Angeles for the weekend because I had meetings here on Friday. We're going to the FOX lot to watch the east coast feed then we're heading over to Nathan Fillion's house to catch the west coast action and Greg is gonna twitter again with some different commentary. The premiere continues on Monday night as well—who will Twitter then? We shall see. Indeed.

Also? I cannot spell "premiere" without spell check.

Marc Horowitz

Meet Marc: "At age 8, he founded his first company - a ghost removal and cleaning service with his mom serving as scheduling coordinator." I'm in Los Angeles for the weekend and I had coffee with Marc yesterday. We were making business arrangements of various sorts and kinds. Marc gave me a free pen and that's all I'll say for now.

Uh-oh, We Did It Again

The very idea of Twitter has once again ruffled the feathers of a technology columnist. You can add "Twitter is a bad, bad thing" to Andrew Kantor's "Things I've Said" page on his personal web site. Alphabetically, I believe it belongs after, "They've got Preparation H up the wazoo." Incidentally, those would make great Twitter updates.

Somewhere in the middle of the article Andrew admits that, "people like this idea. People other than me, anyway." However, he ends on a low note saying that After a few days of reading 'I'm choosing a shirt to wear' or 'I think I like vanilla,' I'd be ready to find a rifle and a clock tower." I'll bet he didn't actually try Twitter. Because, depending on the friend,—that info can be good stuff.
