Graham Is The Man
Is it just me or is the way Graham blogs about drag 'n' drop functionality just plain cute? He knows how everything works inside and out and he's the go-to-guy for any obscure Blogger code question yet he is trying very hard to be enthusiastic about the features that bring Blogger to the HTML Illiterati (which is important for the future of Blogger and Blogger users because let's face it, hypertext markup language was not meant for this kind of abuse).
Yes, methinks it is true: Graham is the man.
Twitter Lingo
Besides texting your updates to 40404, you can interact with Twitter entirely through your mobile phone with various commands—interactive fiction style. Good times when you're bored. In the examples below, I've referred to my Twitter username but you would swap that out for whoever.
Texts go to 40404You can also join Twitter by sending in an update right now. So, if you texted "reading Biz's blog" to 40404 you'd get set up with a Twitter account (but you wouldn't have any friends which is why 'follow biz' is better). You can join online too.
off turns text notifications off
on turns text notifications on
get biz gets the current status of a friend
get gets all current updates from friends
follow biz sends a friend request
leave biz stop getting mobile updates from a friend
leave all stop getting mobile updates alltogether
followers find out who is following you
nudge biz encourage a friend to update

MySpace Not in The WayBack Machine
The Internet Archive does not include myspace at their request. I was gonna root around and see what it looked like in 2003 or 2004 (when it was *tres* xanga-esque).
Bomb in The Hopper?
iPod prompts airport scare in Ottawa - Some dude dropped his iPod in the airplane toilet. That sucks right there. But then everyone freaked and thought there was a futuristic techno-bomb in the hopper.

Turn Any Web Page Into A Mobile Version
If you want to browse a blog or any other site from your Treo or Blackberry or whatever Google will hook you up. Just go here on your phone browser: http://www.google.com/gwt/n and enter a url. The site you want to look at will be mobilized for your viewing pleasure. For example, here is the Biz Stone, Genius mobile version. It appears to be similar to the way Google does Mobile Gmail. Nice.
Our Solar System Has 8 Planets
The BBC reports on the recent decision to demote Pluto. So now we only have 8 planets instead of the proposed 12. Nevertheless, we still have many "worlds" to discover.

Dictionary.com Redesign
Not sure yet how I feel about the redesign of Dictionary.com. Lots of colors and text styling in the definitions which may or may not be helping me out.

Mobile Blogspots
Now that Blogspot blogs are going to be dynamically served up Google should make it so that every blogspot blog automatically has a mobile friendly version at m.whater.blogspot.com. That would be cool.

At A Dodgers Game in LA
I went to a Dodgers game last night with Paul, Vinny, and Greg. Paul and Vinny used to be in the SciFi channel's The Invisible Man--loved that show! Paul has more recently been in Entourage which is also a favorite at Genius Labs. Greg hooked it all up even though he's crazy busy. Thanks Greg! Also, I gotta do yoga because Vinny does and he's mad in shape.

Blogger Now Has Categories, Protected Posting, and More
There's some nifty new features at Blogger today including a tagging system for categorzing your posts called Labels, a protected posting feature that lets you choose who can view your blog, and a really fancy drag-and-drop wysiwyg template editor for changing the look and the colors and making widgets for your sidebar from any feed. Here is a tour of the new features. Also, sign in with your Google account. Try it out at beta.blogger.com.
In honor of the recent Blogger developments I give you the Sprites singing "I Started A Blog Nobody Read." Don't let the song discourage you from starting a blog, rather be inspired that there is a song about starting a blog!

Sketches
I found a box with some little paintings I did a few years ago. Each one is pretty simple and plain but maybe if I cut them all up and arrange them in a big square that would look good on the dining room wall.

Under the Covers
I know studios remake old movies but it would be neat if directors and actors covered films like singers cover songs. In other words, maybe next week I go and see John Woo's cover of Die Hard and a few weeks later I could catch Rob Riener's cover of the same film. Totally different takes. That would be fun for me but maybe I'm the only one.

Small Was the New Big
I wrote an essay for United Business Media in 2002 called Small Is the New Big. It was true then and it may even still be true.
An Important Question
What Kind of Genius Are You?: "After a decade of number crunching, Galenson, at the not-so-tender age of 55, has fashioned something audacious and controversial: a unified field theory of creativity."
