New Corante Blog

There's a new Coronte blog called Rebuilding Media. Corante blogs, with some exceptions, are mostly smart and informative. This blog, by Vin Crosbie and Bob Cauthorn is shaping up to be a good one too. But what's the deal with this 2,887 word post that would be about 9 or 10 old school word processed pages? Is that single post going to rebuild all of media on it's own? How am I going to read that beast before I head off to work? It's funny and informative and well written but sheesh. They should break it into parts. Give it to me 600 words at a time throughout the week and build in cliffhangers to get me hooked. Simultaneously offer it in spoken word format in the same serialized manner. Now we're talking. So to speak. Anyway, check it out, maybe you can read faster than me.

This Doesn't Inspire Confidence

Nasa ready to bend shuttle safety rules: "Nasa will make a fresh attempt to launch the space shuttle Discovery this afternoon, admitting yesterday that it was prepared to bend the agency's own safety rules over a technical glitch that caused the last mission to be abandoned earlier this month."

How punk rock is Tony Pierce? Will he do number two on his first Odeo show? The award winning blogger takes podcasting to a new, er, high?

Feeds Working Properly Now

If you read my blog in a feedreader you might have thought I wasn't posting when, in actuality, I have been posting like a freaking maniac. That's because I had my feed settings set wrong. Genius is often misunderstood by itself. A true saying, even if I do say so myself.

Here's An Idea: Desktop Application Feeds

The other day Ev was thinking about Email Stats but what if desktop applications produced feeds? At the end of the day, week, month, etc., I could get a receipt of my accomplishments with pretty charts and graphs. Plus, there would be a web site or application which I could use to tweak the data to my liking and maybe more—like some kind of collaborative community type thing. Maybe this idea is just for the browser where an increasing amount of people are spending an increasing amount of time through a Greasemonkey extension or some such. That would be easier for sure but still. So yeah. Feeds.

Oops

I meant to post that last post to Blogger Buzz. It's okay if it's here too. I'm still trying out Ecto and using it with NetNewsWire which I'm also trying out. I've gotta learn to check which blog I'm posting to. I'll get the hang of it eventually.

Cambodian Bloggers

Wired News has published an article about Blogs Taking Off in Cambodia.
A Cambodian nonprofit worker traverses the country, teaching students to publish blogs. The project promotes democracy and spurs internet use in a land where few people have access to the web. Matt Reed reports from Phnom Penh.
Page two of the article links to this list of Cambodian bloggers.

Why Trek's Enterprise failed

This may very well be true. Battlestar Gallactica is mad good.
Why Trek's Enterprise failed: A panel of Star Trek experts and enthusiasts said Thursday at San Diego Comic-Con that the reason the now-canceled Enterprise series cast the future of the franchise in doubt was that it wasn't enough like the gritty new Battlestar Galactica.
However, in defense of Enterprise, it got really good in the final six episodes. It just took to long to find their groove.

One Begets The Other

I just installed a trial version of Ecto because I started using NetNewsWire to read feeds. When will this madness end? Actually, it's not really madness, I kinda like it. In other technical matters, my startup disk is full and the cd-drive is broken so I'm not looking forward to the various rigging I'll have to do to get some stuff off of this thing.

Parking Woes

This guy over at Yahoo! is documenting some badly parked cars. To deal with parking woes, Google now offers valet parking to employees. But if I were to use the service, then I'd be giving up all the fun of roaming through the lot or garage after work clicking my unlock button trying to find where I parked my car. (I tend to forget.)

My Odeo Roundup

I rounded up some of my favorite shows at Odeo over the weekend. My personal taste is for short shows so if you're hankering for something ten minutes or under, check out the premiere of The Odeo Roundup. It's a little bit sassy if I do say so myself.

Was I Podcasting?

Of course! Those are my old glasses (since chewed by dog) and that is my old phone so this photo that Aubrey took must be from SXSW 2004 in Austin, TX. I should be a detective.

Odeo Is Live

In case you haven't noticed, Odeo has launched. My channel is called The Biz Stone Show. However, just like Odeo itself, the show is in beta. Also, here is the highly academic and comprehensive History of Odeo.

Baskerville

While we were in Boston we visited Livy's parents in Barnstable and they have a puppy that wasn't there before. His name is Baskerville. Also, they put in hardwood floors. Nice!

RE: What Should I Write?

Despite the fact that my site was down for a week, there were some great responses to this question. Especially this one which echoes what someone at my publisher said.
Surely it has to be a "fictional" tale about a man who blogs, has written books about blogging and now is looking for an idea for his new book which he wants to write.

Perhaps he can post on his blog that he needs some ideas, then people will leave comments and he can find this great one that is the inspiration for his new book.

However, what are the chances that people will believe this?
Thanks purplesimon and all the rest, I'm still thinking.

Not A Slacker

While my FTP was broken here I posted a bunch over at Blogger Buzz. First there was the problem people were having with some new code introduced when we launched Blogger Images. Then there was this thing about spam. So it's not like I wasn't posting. Plus, I was updating my Odeo and I promised Steve I'd give a shout out to the Blog Business Summit.

By the way are you watching Empire? Greg Yaitanes directed the first night. I'll bet the cool high school history teachers are telling their students to watch the show. If they're not they should. It's good learnin'.

I'm Back

My FTP problems are fixed. Whew.
