The New York Times Link Generator creates special links for articles so that, when followed they are not locked behind the for-pay archive wall after a few weeks like they normally would be. It's awesome. Another useful web tool that I really like is Tiny URL which takes long, unruly web site addresses and makes them teeny-tiny. Do you see where I am going with this? What if links created with the New York Times Link Generator were automatically tiny-ified? That would be good. I would like that.

Pam's Blog
Nice, Pam Anderson has a blog now. I met Pam in 2001 on the set of VIP and she bought a vegan lunch for the entire cast and crew from Native Foods. That was good stuff. Strange for me to be hanging out with the VIP girls, I know. Nevertheless, these things happen.

One Bar
Our DSL is finally installed but I only have one bar of Airport action. That blowz but at least its a start. Nice.

I've Made It
I've just had the honor of ranking number one on Jason Theodor's Top Ten Worst Blog Book Titles list. I am honored. Also, he's got a good point in the rest of the post.
But eventually you have to strip away all the bling and ask yourself: what am I trying to comunicate here? Does all this extraneous crap contribute or detract from what I’m attempting to say? If David Weinberger is right and the internet is a conversation, than let’s tone down the background noise a little.
That being said, I’m still going to have an ugly experimental blog to play with every single blog-toy I find. Who says I can’t be contradictors and hypocritical? I’m a moody blogger, damnit! I do what I want.
Good stuff!

Undisclosed
I'm working from an undisclosed location in San Francisco today. Also, get this: the flat tire I got yesterday was caused by the giant metal gate to my old apartment's garage closing on my car, (the last time I ever drive through it!) digging into and along the side, and ripping the tire flat. I have to pay $150 for a new tire and here's the kicker: They want me to pay to have the gate repaired! Since they have my significant deposit, I'm going to have to go along. I was told it shouldn't be more than $50-$100 but still. That thing wrecked my car—it should have a sensor or something.

Statistically Improbable Phrases
I just discovered SIPs at Amazon:
Amazon.com's Statistically Improbable Phrases, or "SIPs", show you the interesting, distinctive, or unlikely phrases that occur in the text of books in Search Inside the Book. Our computers scan the text of all books in the Search Inside program. If they find a phrase that occurs a large number of times in a particular book relative to how many times it occurs across all Search Inside books, that phrase is a SIP in that book.Wacky.
Frustrating Morning
I'm having a crappy day so far. The cable and internet is delayed on the new place for stupid reasons and I got a flat tire this morning in the city trying to move the last remaining junk from the old place before work. At one point I dropped a coffee can full of coins on the garage floor and had to pick them up one at a time. I'm going to eat a quick lunch now—hopefully I won't choke on a strip of tofu and die face-down in my hummus.

One More
Okay, so I packed some boxes and then did one more song. I couldn't stop! Here it is: Just A Nothing.mp3. Also, in case you're wondering, that is my voice on both tracks. I apologize in advance.
Playing Around with Garage Band
I'm supposed to be packing up the apartment but there's no more boxes and Livy has the car. So instead, I finally sat down and played around with Garage Band. It's really fun. I made this: Another Dimension of Reality.mp3 with my laptop's built-in microphone and some of the loops available in GB. This could be a thing I do that wastes lots of time.

Palo Alto Here We Come
We're watching Seinfeld and hanging out among all the half-packed boxes. This is our last weekend living in Potrero Hill. Tomorrow we have to pack everything up and get it all ready for the movers. Next week we will be residents of Palo Alto, CA. If I had any hipster cred I would be losing it as I type this post. It is precisely because of my dorkitude that I am free to move about the globe into any condo in any college town I want. Nice!
Google Printed
Cool, a search for my name on Google now displays a link to my book, as scanned and presented by Google Print: Google Print Search: Who Let the Blogs Out?

Hanging Out at the Blogger Party
The Blogger Party in Austin last night had a nice tournout. I've gotta unload some of my pics tonight and post 'em if I got 'em.

Arrived in Austin
We're here in Austin. I'm a little bummed we didn't arrive yesterday because it seems like I missed a few cool things. No matter, we ride!

Lane and Sutter
Lane and Sutter were at my Millennium birthday dinner—and I swear they had more than just a glass of water between them. Here are more photos. It was fun and I was glad to celebrate with a group of folks who have meant a great deal to me this past year and helped me out in many ways. Thanks you guys! Happy birthday to me.
Blogger Buzz
I'm going to be blogging a lot over at Blogger Buzz—a new team blog about blogs, Blogger, blogging, and blogs. So maybe that will curb some of the bloggy-chat here at Genius Labs. That should make some of my friends who read my blog a little happier (Greg: "We get it blogs are taking over the world. More funny Biz stuff like the time you fell down the stairs.").
This Is Fatty
Over at The Last Nail, Jay (who is building a second story on his house and blogging it) has pictures of the white kitty that came with the house—along with a bunch of other stuff. They adopted him.

SXSW+Birthday
I'm heading out to the interactive part of the South by Southwest festivals and conferences this weekend. Should be a good time. But first things first—tomorrow is my birthday. I'm celebrating by going to work. Then, out to dinner with some fine folks.

Almost Expired
Over the weekend, bizstone.com expired. My blog was replaced with a Network Solutions page explaining that the domain name was up for grabs. Thanks to those who renewed it on my behalf (Thanks Pud and Greg!), I should be good for another ten years. However, I don't think NS is that cool—they had no problem taking multiple transactions from different people. Jackasses. Still, I'm good for while at least.

Home Improvement Blogging
The Last Nail is a home improvment blog. If this post is any indication, we are in for an interesting adventure—he's planning on doing all the work himself.

The Right Jacket
Could it be that the reason I can't find the right jacket is because I am a robot? I tried on Pud's blazer at TED. He's eight feet tall so it didn't fit—but that's what I'm talking about. A simple cotton blazer.

Shuffles the Clown
I bought an iPod Shuffle today. Actually, Shellen bought it because I "couldn't find" my ATM card until after we left the store. Guess what? It was in my wallet. Wacky, that.
Me Too
Matt linked to this modern wooden house. I like it even more than the Glidehouse and Breezehouse. Although, those might be cheaper.

Goldsworthy Sculpture at Stanford
Rivers and Tides is a documentary film by Thomas Riedelsheimer about sculpture artist Andy Goldsworthy that I watched on the recommendation of Jason Goldman several months ago. I instantly became a fan. This weekend Livy and I found ourselves wandering around the Stanford campus and discovered an installation by the the artist himself. Massive, twisty, and pieced together by hand. Powerful. I plan to go back back.
