John's Xanga Blog: "By the way, a little tip: if you do ask for help in my comments, it doesn't help your cause to leave me zero eprops and tell me that Xanga sucks. It doesn't really bother me anymore, but I don't exactly find it very motivating."
Find A Grave.com has Live Chat.
This morning I read that Ford is pulling the plug on it's TH!NK electric car. I was disappointed until I saw that they're going to release a Hybrid SUV, the Escape HEV, next year. Cool!

Biz Stone, Genio Check me out in Spanish. Thanks to Google's beta translator. Nice.
I interviewed for a job recently and I told my youngest sister who is still in high school that if I get the job then she can have my g3 notebook. Is it because I'm a nice older brother or is it because I need an excuse to get a new iBook? Only Frank Sinatra knows and sadly, he has passed on.
Top 5 reasons to upgrade to a Blog*Spot Plus hosting plan. You can also "create an about page, a photo gallery, or any other type of page you want" but I don't think those are powered by Blogger. Or are they? That would be very interesting.

A Media Relations employee at the Church of Scientology asked John of Microcontent News for a link to their response to his Church v. Google articles. The snippet he posted makes the connection that people who post anti-Scientology "propoganda" on the internet are merely an online version of terrorists (she compares them to the Al Qaeda.) Official Genius Labs take: she is wrong. Nice. I like having official "takes."

Wil Wheaton writes about how it sucks to spend your life auditioning and about how a blog can help you define yourself. "I began to write more and more. It's all here on WWDN. I can see my writing style change, as I find my voice, and figure out what I want to say, and how I want to say it."

A weblog provider with a revenue model? (besides licensing) The brainiacs at Xanga are spinning Amazon's Web Services into potential gold. This is how it works: a cool new toy lets users easily add a "currently reading (playing, watching)" module to their blog via the "Xangazon Search." Then, affiliated revenue generated from the over 3 million page views is profit for Xanga. But wait... premium users can sign up to have their modules auto-affiliatized. It's gorgeous! Not ready yet, but scheduled for release very soon.
Two things: European Web host 123-Reg has announced that it will feature Site Builder, a low-cost Web site building service developed using the Trellix publishing platform, and the University of Saskatchewan Campus Computer Store links to my blog. Viva la Canada!

I clicked a button on Meg's blog and her book was instantly in my Amazon shopping cart. Wow! I guess I'm buying it when I check out. That might be a while, I've also got an iBook in there. Wishful shopping.

With so many people looking for jobs, especially in Boston (myself included), now would be a great time for Amazon to start offering a job hunting service. I could look for jobs and pretend I'm shopping. Nice.

Maybe I should call it This Week on the Living Web. I'm still tweaking.
GoogleMail is an email interface to Google. Just email google@capeclear.com with the text of your query in the subject line and you'll receive your search results via email. Cool stuff.
I'm experimenting with two things. A new CMS and an idea for a weekly column. Check it out: This Week on The Web.

Wi-Fi and free lunches: "When people go downtown, they naturally expect the local infrastructure to include streetlights, fire hydrants and parking spaces. Soon, I believe, they also will expect Wi-Fi connectivity. Sitting on a city park bench and checking e-mail will not seem so strange; in fact, it will be something people demand. "
High-speed internet access at Starbucks must be cool for people who live in apartments above the cafe. If there are any. I'm drinking coffee right now and my internet access doesn't seem any faster than normal.

Paper Mag Sprouts From Book Zine This is really cool and it's not just magazines either. One of the books I worked on when I was at St. Martin's/Griffin, Useless Knowledge, was published partly because the author's site has over 150,000 subscribers.

Jakob Nielsen wants users to be able to Control Font Size. My Mac IE 5.1 has buttons for this although, Jakob's right, they aren't part of the default toolbar. Alternatively, some people reading this post may like to know that they can hold down the command key and type "+" or "-" to change the font size in Mac IE 5.1.
The Look at Me project started with a few photos found in a Paris street in 1998. These photos were either lost, forgotten, or thrown away. The images now are nameless, without connection to the people they show, or the photographer who took them. What a cool site. (MeFi)

Amazon Chat is a new service accessible from some of Amazon's most popular category pages. The service allows customers to chat with each other in real-time about their experiences with related products.
Filip Stoj of Digital Thread requested a version of BlogThis! that automatically adds the target="_blank" tag after a blogged URL. In other words, links open in a new window. So, for people using Blogger Pro with Mac IE 5.1, here you go: BizBlogThis! (Drag the link to your toolbar and blog with wild abandon.) It works for me, it might not work for you.

The Sharp Portable AV Player lets you record from TV or download from the web and watch on the go (via Gizmodo). Maybe you could download directly from TiVo. It'd be nice if it had the same UI. I remember thinking about this the day the iPod was released. Anyway, cool stuff.

Hello Kitty responds to your keyboard motion by talking and moving. You can type with Kitty. Hello Kitty moves her arms and head while you type. Hello Kitty will talk with you in Japanese and English. In other words, people who are comfortable with naked, decapitated dolls; nightmarish bobbing clown heads; or cymbal-clashing, self-powered wind-up monkey toys, will not find Hello Kitty USB Hub freaky in any way.

I twisted my ankle this weekend like you would not believe. It hurts like a blow torch. My book will be out next month, in the meantime I need a job. Livia says I should pitch some articles and get some freelance writing going again. Probably a good idea. I should get into a routine with the writing. That seems to work for various professionals of various sorts and kinds. Also, when the summer's over this beachy town may lose it's allure. In fact, hobbling around in seaweedy water today was a little less than glamorous. Although, I could have sworn I saw Dan Bricklin driving to the beach last week. Very glamorous.

During the course of writing my book (which is done, I saw PDFs this morning!) I sort of let myself go in the facial hair department. I trimmed it half-heartedly with some small scissors a few times. During a party last weekend somebody said I looked like MacGuyver. A fellow genius! Maybe I found a new look.
