I was given uncorrected page proofs of We've Got Blog the other day. Uncorrected page proofs are bound into a quickly printed, unfinished paperback version of what's to come and they are sometimes used by the publicity department to generate some early buzz. We've got Blog is full of essays, interviews, and articles that have been previously published on the Web and now have new life in print. I love that. Good stuff.

More about Ice on Mars from the Nasa site: "Surprised scientists have found enormous quantities of buried treasure lying just under the surface of Mars -- enough water ice to fill Lake Michigan twice over."
During the week I live above a bunch of cafes in lower Manhattan. The din of clanking plates and conversation is nice but I like the same din better when it comes from the kitchens of homes in Rockport. Not that I go around recording people in their kitchens Saturday evenings around 7 pm.

My cell phone perished. Rather than buy a new phone, I signed up for Working Assets Wireless and got a free phone. So far so good.

I was working away on my book today and all of a sudden I heard drums. A memorial day parade went by our little barn. It was complete with veterans, musicians, girl scouts, boy scouts, and brownies. I heard the band teacher say, "Adam, you're the man. Give us a rum-tum-tum, rum-tum-tum to follow on the way to the graveyard." It was some good Americana. And there's ice on Mars. Good stuff.

BBC News: Ice reservoirs found on Mars NASA will make the dramatic announcement about the water-ice next Thursday. And full disclosure of the findings will come in the journal Science later that day. Genius Labs will have to send some probes out.
With just the right amount of "Ghost Radiation," it should be possible to send a person through a wormhole without being crushed into oblivion. (New Scientist)

I just checked out Upsaid for the first time. It's a Web journaling service with built in comments, total template control, page hit counter, guestbook, column editor, web poll, and customizable date templates. Cool.

Stanford researchers establish link between creative genius and mental ilness. We'll have to keep a close watch on this here at the Lab. Could get messy.

My friends at WebCrimson just launched a fantastic new "friendlier" version of their Web content management system complete with an anchored toolbar. It makes the complex seem so easy. I love it. I already have a site in mind that I want to use it for.
My Guide to Independent Publishing is up at Digital Web Magazine.
I had dinner with Monsur last night at Zen Palate in Union Square. We ate some vegetarian deliciocities and plotted grandiose schemes for fantastical endevours. I like it.

Yahoo! - Pyra partners with Public Mind, "The newly added Public Mind Active Listening System combines a "dynamic FAQ" system with issue tracking and personalized customer support. Blogger users will have the ability to browse and search a directory of questions and answers, ask more specific questions, comment on issues, and subscribe to topics of particular interest."

I saw my friend Alex at the play the other night and now I've bookmarked his site. I love the murals. I need to buy a building somewhere and hire Alex to paint an outside wall.

The BBC reports that China is going to set up a mining operation on Earth's Moon. Is anyone allowed to do that? If I can find my own way to the Moon, is okay to do whatever I want? Can I start a new planet and demand taxes if citizens of Earth don't want me to cause tidal waves? Hmm.

Hey! Maybe I can use Bloglet together with the Blogger Pro post via email feature to create a freakishly hacked together group blog of unwilling participants. Okay, back to work.
Nice: Peter Scott's Guideblog for developments in the blogosphere.
I saw my friend Jason Yaitanes in a performance of The Seagull by the Hovey Players last night. It was the best Hovey play I'd ever seen. Jason and the rest of the cast were top-notch and the set was good stuff. I thought they were actual birch trees. Nice.

"Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have created the first realistic videos of people saying things they never said - a scientific leap that raises unsettling questions about falsifying the moving image."

Cool, CafePress is going to start offering posters in June. I'm in.
I love working on non-fiction covers, especially science books. I think science books should have just as much energy and hype as fiction or true crime. Is that "okay" with you? Good. Nice. Continue with your usual business.

The new EU logo to be used on flags, letterhead, etc. I like it, but Bruce Dunlop says, "This is one of those ideas that would seem great around a boardroom table after a couple of Aussie chardonnays, but in practice it doesn't work."
I was reading Microcontent News this morning and discovered that Blogging: Genius Strategies for Instant Web Content is up at Amazon. Nice.

Employees of Supertectonics Labs have been and are away on a top secret government mission for an undisclosed amount of time. However, for your reading pleasure, declassified information is still available on the archives.

With my cranial topography, a shaven head is probably not the way to go. But if you've ever considered it, let HeadShaver.org be your guide to shaving your head completely bald. It's good to have a guide in such matters.
Note to self: 40% reduced fat does not mean eat 500% more.
"You can also earn more money, by telling about PakiPay to others. Each customer who uses pakipay.com because of you, you get 10 Rupees. PakiPay.Com - Pakistan's First Online Payment System." Can I use my Rupees to buy an extra sword on Zelda?
Uh-oh, Fortuyn's suspected killer is being reported as a "vegan animal rights activist." Crazy vegans are running amok around the world... hide your children! Batten down the hatches! Genius Labs does not condone child abuse or assassination.

I went to BookExpo America yesterday. It was jam packed but there were lots of advance reader copies and cool stuff. Livia's publisher had a display of her projects but I missed them! Too much stuff to see. Also, I got a cheap bike so I can crooze around Good Harbor on the weekends. Nice.

Bloglet now supports Userland (Radio) powered weblogs. Monsur knows his stuff. Believe me, I'm glad he does!
It's Amazon for Web sites. I love it! Found via Matt.

The crazy couple in this FOXNews.com piece are giving veganism bad press. There are plenty of proper vegan formulas and foods for babies if they didn't want to breastfeed. AND according to this article, this couple is not even vegan because they gave the baby fish oil. Based on this article, Genius Labs officially classifies this couple as "wackjobs."
