Since we created Twitter, I've been really bad about regular blog posting here.

"If I beat myself up for every time I fantasized about drop kicking another human being, I’d be in a loony bin somewhere." Need unproffesional advice? Lisa is unstoppable!

Ask Lutz
It's Friday, so it's time for a little vintage Bobby Hobbes. Those were the days my friend.
I'll be in Rockport tonight. Hold my calls.

I helped Marc move today. His stuff is as heavy now as it was two years ago. I'm tired.

"Go Biz, Go Biz, Go-Go-Go Biz...." Kate cheered me on today. Okay, I'm all psyched up. Gotta write!
There's a new version of BlogThis! for Mac IE 5.1 up at Blogger Pro. Go get one while supplies last!

Just one more quick post. Matthew Langham's Radio Weblog, and his Blogspot 'blog. Why? Because Matthew is working on my New Riders book with me and he knows his stuff!
The Wall Street Journal will have it's first redesign since 1944 soon. The project costed $232 Million! Damn, that would be a nice freelance project to land. Okay, no more posts, I gotta write.
My new writing strategy: don't check my email when I get home. The time spent checking and responding to email is quality book time. Must... read... email. No!

Attention Blogger Pro users using IE 5.1 for Mac. The Pro version of BlogThis! doesn't seem to do anything, so I tweaked it to work on my system. It should work for you too, just drag this link to your toolbar:
BlogThis!(Biz)
I'm no JavaScript expert, but I do claim to be a genius. Is that the same as actually being a genius? Perhaps.
I'm at the barn for the weekend, working on another chapter. I'm Going back to Manhattan tomorrow but tonight we've got the DVD of Le Placard. What? I like Depardieu.
If you've been reading Lisa Lutz's blog, you might like to experience more of her work. Lisa wrote the screenplay for the film Plan B, directed by Greg Yaitanes. It'll be playing here:
Laemmle's Monica 4 Plex
1332 Second Street
Santa Monica, CA 90401

For the next week or so. Enjoy!

In the queue at Genius Labs: The Digital ViewMaster. Upload, download, and share .gifs, .jpgs, and SWF animations from a website. Then hot-sync your digiViewer with your PC and let the fun begin! Great for sharing pics, promoting upcoming films, or just showing off. I want one now.

Kate told the design department to think "Oceans 11" when they design my book's cover. Nice! I love that. The big question now is, do we put a picture of me on the cover? Veen had his mug on there and that cover is really nice. It's an awesome book too, by the way. Highly recommended.
I designed some potential covers for Killer Waves today. It's the first book Brendan Dubois has published with St. Martin's (Minotaur) so it'll be different than his other covers. We'll see if editorial likes my crazy stuff.

Why is it taking me two hours at night to check and respond to email? I guess I'm acclimating. How you doing?
John launched microcontent news today. That'll be the place to go for the scoop on the weblog world. Nice.

Today was my first day as an official full-time employee of St. Martin's Press. Everybody in the art department is super nice and really talented. I can't think of one person who could possibly be hard to get along with. Oh no, maybe that'll be me! Also, I'm gonna share a 2 bedroom in SoHo during the week and spend the weekends at the beach in MA. My roomate is a sports writer for the New York Times so maybe he can tell me the rules of various sports. Nice!
Cool, I've got a text ad at lights.com. Thanks Peter!
I'm here in NY and I'm at my new job. Crazy. Okay gotta go. More later.

Mar 15, 2002

Well, I took a full time job. Kate, Laura, I promise to stick to my writing schedule but I'm going back to book cover design. This time at Picador USA. Novels, novels, and more novels from the fourth floor of the Flatiron building in Manhattan. Should be fun!

Mar 13, 2002

Have I mentioned before that John Hiler knows things? He also threatened me at knifepoint the other night. But don't let that keep you from reading his articles at Microcontent News. He was drinking too. But again, keep reading, there's no need to miss out.
Two things. First: I hurt my neck. How? Sleeping. So now, not even that is safe for me. Second: When I get a house I can build a greenhouse and put a swimming pool in there. Nice! Okay, back to work.

Mar 12, 2002

Whew, I'm back. I've been 'blogging along for two years and I forgot that Greg bought bizstone.com for me. It expired! But Giorgetta stepped up to the plate and renewed it for me as a birthday present. If you sent me an email this week, could you resend it? Thanks!

"I believe that form follows function. The function of this cover is to sell as many books as possible." I'm not sure if that was a compliment or not, but Mel Stuart is happy with his book's cover.

Mar 6, 2002

I think saw a pigeon fly out of the NR stop just outside the Flatiron today. The New York Times can back me up.
Mel Stuart, the director of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is coming in tomorrow. Now I can finally find out if Umpa Lumpas really exist. Nice.

Another update from Children of Dune director Greg Yaitanes: "I can't tell you much since everything is so hush-hush, but Children of Dune is going to Rock Natick. The sets are huge--bigger and more epic than last time. The audience is in for a lot of surprises and all the while we still remain true to the books. Plus, we see more planets and have more sci fi images. Casting is going great, we have the best people returning and some great new faces." Wow. Sounds awesome! Wanna know what "Rock Natick" means? I'll post something about that soon.
I'm at St. Martin's Press again this week. Various things of various kinds and sorts need to be taken care of. Know what I mean?

Bloglet News because you gotta stay up to date with what's going on at Bloglet.com no matter what. That's how I see it. You got a problem with that? Take it up with my supervisor.
Aha! I found it. It was mentioned in the sidebar at metafilter. Cool, I'm putting it in my chapter about 'blogging for dollars.
I spotted a site the other day. They had amazon affiliate codes you could use in place of your own to help raise funds for various charities. I can't find it. Anyone know where it is?

I was in the secret headquarters of Ab Initio yesterday. Ab Initio provides enterprise level metadata management and one quarter of the Fortune 50 companies are operating with their software. Very futuristic.
Todd Zimmerman writes in with the answer to Meg's request for a "blanket with sleeves." It's called a cuddle wrap and it's available online. Nice work Todd!
Meg wants a blanket with sleeves. I like it. I'll put it in the suggestion box at Genius Labs.
