James Marchetti's dad came home from work one day, shuffled up the front steps opened, up the front door, looked over at James and said, "Jamie, I'm tired... Go to bed." At the time I thought it was weird that he told James to go to bed because he was tired. But I'm tired right now, and I feel like telling someone to go to bed. Somehow it seems like it would help. Mr. Marchetti must have been on to something.

Got an aerobed and stayed in my new place last night. Aerobeds are great but if it's cold in your apartment then the aerobed air gets supercold and you get fresh-frozen in your sleep. A little advice for the aero novices.

Okay, today is my "non-move" to Manhattan. All I'm taking is my backpack and maybe a sidekick bag. Obviously I wouldn't go without my wind up robot toys, I'm gonna mail them, they like being in boxes anyway.

It was a heated debate. It took up at least 15 minutes of the train ride from Manhattan to Boston, but Livia and I finally agreed. The Sorting Hat would place Kirk in Griffyndor, Scotty in Hufflepuff, Spock in Ravenclaw and -- this was difficult -- Kahn (Ricardo Mantoban) would be in Slytherin. Good thing we got that all worked out!

Signed the lease for an apartment in Manhattan today. Everything went great, the last page was a little quirky. A specifically handwritten addendum stated that if I was too drunk to unlock my apartment, I have to call a specific locksmith, at a certain location, at a given time. I signed it. I also signed something about hazardous paint, dangerous windows, and the bank fees of the landlord should anything undesirable happen. Really nice guy though, the landlord. Also met a new neighbor who told me his dog would only attack me if it sensed fear. The apartment is nice. Cozy, but nice. Good roof access too -- much less people up there since they installed several large "radiation" antennas for "cell phones." Who likes a crowded roof? Should be fun, I'll keep you posted!
Just got back last night from a remote farm sanctuary we went to for Livia's birthday. I was a little freaked out at first, but once I realized that all the farm workers had the ability to change themselves into cats at will, and that the chickens could speak fluent Yiddish, it didn't seem like a big deal that the only phone was 10 miles away.

Leaving for New York tomorrow. Going on the super-fast, extra-techno Acela train. I've got new, futuristic yellow sneakers so I can blend into the crowd and nobody will suspect that I am the yet-unamed Emperor of soon-to-be "New Order." Don't be afraid, it should be fun.

Weblogs: a history and perspective is a great essay by Rebecca Blood. She's right on about the effects blogging has on people. Look at me, I started a blog and I became an actual Genius! It says so right at the top.

We went to see Compay Segundo in concert last night. It was great. Compay was introduced as "The Oldest Perfomer in the World". At one point during the performance he said something to the effect of, "It's great to be here in New York." That would have been fine, except we were in Boston. Everybody loved it though, the music was perfect.

I didn't get the apartment. Under ordinary circumstances this could be disappointing. Lucky for me I realize that it was the watershed incident that will lead, ultimately, to my ability to hover 3-5 feet above the ground, in effect, "flying".

I wrote an epinion of my previously glorious digital camera. Does Amazon let you return stuff that you dropped at Super Buffet? My mom returns dead plants to Home Depot all the time.
I went out to a restaurant called Super Buffet the other night. On the way to the restroom, I dropped my CDS 1000. Why was I bringing my camera into the bathroom at Super Buffet? A question for another time. Sufficent to say, my CDS 1000 no longer operates. I'll have to order another one.
